Clinic Director
Dr. Dan Hirai believes that physical therapy is an extraordinary profession, and sees the shared journey he takes with his patients as a privilege. Throughout his career, he has used PT to foster rehabilitation, help patients improve physical performance, and maximize the results his patients achieve in all activities. Having worked with patients of all ages and backgrounds, Dan really enjoys the challenge of adapting his knowledge and skills to ensure each and every patient gets the greatest level of customization of care possible.
Dan’s path to becoming a physical therapist was a lucky, destiny-fueled endeavor. An ankle injury sustained while he was in middle school led to treatment with a course of physical therapy. Dan knew immediately that he wanted to be a part of this amazing profession. Having overcome a ruptured ACL, a few more ankle injuries, and a few shoulder injuries later, Dan is living proof that PT works.
Dan’s experience in the sports performance and athletic rehabilitation setting is also proof that Dan’s style of PT works. While in San Diego, Dan worked closely with professional indoor soccer players and collegiate athletes, learning a great deal about effective manual techniques. Working in a home health setting added to the richness of his treatment experience by giving him a greater appreciation of the level of craftsmanship required to treat patients through all levels of function.
Dan moved to the Bay Area from San Diego and joined the SOL team in 2015. He is ART, OCS (board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy) and SFMA certified, and is fully committed to improving his skills and efficacy as an outpatient physical therapist.
In his free time, Dan enjoys running, surfing, playing basketball, and anything else that involves being active or outdoors. He also enjoys traveling and has been able to explore a great deal of the United States over the last few years.
