Are personal training apps as helpful as personal trainers?

As apps become a larger part of the fitness community, many people are asking questions like, “Are personal training apps as helpful as personal trainers?” SOL Physical Therapy discusses three reasons that the answer to this question is still no.

Our SOL Physical Therapy team has been providing high-quality therapy and fitness services to the Oakland, California area for 22 years. One lesson we’ve learned during that time is that personalized service is more helpful. Our team knows that many people have their own fitness goals before they even seek help from us. This is why we’ll take the time to find out what your goals are before we do anything else. Only then will we build you a fitness plan that may help you meet your goals as quickly as possible, and your plan may include working with a personal trainer who is more helpful than a personal training app.

Three reasons our personal trainers are more effective than personal training apps

Our team at SOL Physical Therapy knows apps may be helpful tools when you’re trying to improve your fitness. For example, they may be helpful for tracking the progress of your workouts. However, our team also knows there are several reasons personal training apps may not be as effective as our personal trainers.

One reason our trainers may be more effective for you is they can help you check your form. One thing that an app can’t do is ensure you’re using the proper form while doing your exercises. However, our personal trainers will be there in-person during your workouts to make sure that you’re doing all of the exercises properly. This is important since proper form may help you reduce your chances of injuring yourself while working out.

A second reason we think our trainers may be more helpful is they may be able to help you get more out of your workout. Our team knows that workouts are hard both mentally and physically. We’re also aware people may begin to wear out mentally long before they wear out physically. One benefit of working with our trainers is they’ll help push you to reach your full physical potential during every workout, which isn’t something most people can get from a personal training app.

The third reason our team believes our trainers may be more effective is they can provide you with motivation. We realize that many people have days where it’s more difficult to get off the couch and stick to your workout schedule. If all you’re using is a personal training app, you may be less likely to find the motivation to do your workout on such a day. Having an appointment with our personal trainers, though, may help you find the motivation you need. This may be true because people tend to be less willing to disappoint another person compared to an app you can just turn off.

For these three reasons, our team at SOL Physical Therapy feels that our personal trainers may be more effective for you than a personal training app. In fact, there are lots of ways our team may be able to help you meet your fitness goals. To find out all the ways we may be able to help you, there’s only one step you’ll need to take. Contact our team today for more information or to schedule an initial appointment.
