Anyone who’s suffered from chronic pain knows the debilitating effect it can have on a person’s quality of life. Whether you suffer from back, neck, shoulder, pelvis, hip or knee pain, you’re not alone. Chronic musculoskeletal pain is common in the U.S., but there are solutions. The ATM2, for instance, is a clinical tool offered at SOL to lower pain levels and increase range of motion.
How it works
ATM2 utilizes what’s called Active Therapeutic Movements that, in essence, convince the central nervous system to “release” muscles from chronic tightness due pain. You see, the presence of pain puts our bodies in protection mode, and in this mode our brain “locks up” certain muscles near the site of discomfort – the spine, shoulders, hips, etc. – in order to limit motion and prevent further injury.
A therapeutic device, the ATM2 reverses this effect, offering a new approach to physical therapy and the reduction of pain. Adjustable belts support specific points around the client’s body as he or she repeatedly performs movements toward the problem area, motion that essentially tells the central nervous system to release tight muscles.
